Goodnight, not goodbye

I’ve been performing live music in the Twin Cities for close to 16 years now; over half of my life. The first time performing, I played drums in my band Paradigm, in “The Lounge” at “The Garage” in Burnsville. I like to tell people we did all Bad Religion covers, but that’s only half the truth. There was some Good Charlotte and Sum 41 in there as well. That first show sparked a fire inside me that has continued to grow, and burns brighter with each song, each gig, each band, and each year.

Reflecting on that, I find myself getting emotional, because I realize that the vast majority of the wonderful friendships I now have, are due to my decision to play, listen, and watch shows. I can’t stress this point enough. Almost every person I am close to and love, I have met through music in one way or another.

If it wasn’t for music, I never would have met Allen, Matthew, or Aaron. I’ve spent five wonderful years playing with Matthew, and 11 years with Allen. These guys are my brothers for life. They have contributed an exorbitant amount of time, energy, and creativity to this band. Their individual talents as musicians, along with our camaraderie, has been one of the highlights of my life to watch and take part in.

Performing Live

I have made a personal decision to take a step back from American Scarecrows. I wish I had the opportunity to give our wonderful fans more forewarning, since these next few shows (Friday, April 1st at The Turf Club, and Saturday, April 2nd at The Icon Lounge in Sioux Falls, SD) will be our last…at least, for some time. But, like I said, it’s goodnight, not goodbye.

Our band has had the pleasure of making two records. We are so proud of that. We have also shared the stage with many killer bands and artists.

I want to thank every person that has ever come to a show, bought a record, or come up and talked with us. You have played a defining role in why we do this, and for that we will always be grateful to you.

Keep listening to records, keep going to shows, and keep being excellent to each other.
Big Love,

Lenny Kravitz Accidentally Flashes Swedish Crowd

Sascha Baumann,

Being a good performer requires FULL COMMITMENT: In order to captivate the audience, you can’t hold anything back. Lenny Kravitz clearly knows this, as he regularly dazzles concertgoers with his guitar playing/guitar faces. He probably also knows that sometimes, when you bare your soul onstage to a sea of strangers, you almost feel naked. And last night (August 3) in Stockholm, he actually was naked. In the crotch area.

The “Fly Away” singer was playing to a crowd of thousands at a Stockholm theme park called Gröna Lund when, in a fit of true rock frenzy, Kravitz crouched down for an intense guitar solo. That’s when the unthinkable happened: The seams of his leather trousers split to reveal literally all of his business. It’s almost as if he was pointing at front row. Guess they’re glad they got there early?

Lenny Kravitz

According to The Local, Lenny briefly left the stage and reappeared in a pair of functioning pants — but by then, the stray appendage had been captured on camera phones and posted to social media. One eyewitness told a Swedish tabloid (via The Local), “It was insane, I killed myself laughing. And then I called my mum who was there at the show as well. Her reaction was the same and she almost killed herself laughing too.”

Sadly, our company’s standards policy prevents us from sharing stray dong imagery, but if you’d like a gander (NSFW! Dong ahoy! There’s a monster at the end of this book!), one can be had here. Also, here.

In his defense, underwear is less than practical when you’re wearing semi-breathable animal skins! Our hearts and thoughts are with Lenny’s daughter Zoe Kravitz at this difficult but also hilarious time.

Kim Richards’ Season 3 Real Housewives of Beverly Hills opening tagline declares: “Life is a journey, and I’m finding myself every day.” Unfortunately, Sunday night (August 2), police found her stealing a bunch of stuff from a department store in the San Fernando Valley.

Police told ABC News Richards was arrested after trying to steal more than $600 worth of merchandise from a Target retailer in Van Nuys, California. She was then booked at the Van Nuys station and released on Monday on $5,000 bail, the site says.

The arrest is the second in a matter of months for Richards, who was taken into custody by Beverly Hills police in April for drunkenly causing a disturbance at a hotel restaurant. According to CBS News, Richards then tried to kick a police officer once at the city’s precinct, and was ultimately charged with public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer.

Richards’ fellow Housewives cast member Lisa Vanderpump tweeted that Sunday’s incident was “such a shame.”

The Housewives star has openly addressed her struggles with alcoholism on the show, and last month, she told Entertainment Tonight “I’ve always loved sobriety” amid a relapse and return to rehab.

“[Relapsing] was not easy,” she added. “I have to say, don’t take this wrong, but I really wanted to go to treatment because I needed a break from what I was going through at home.”…

Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards have reportedly called off their engagement, further proving that the powers that be have officially deemed September 2015 open season on all your favorite celebrity couples.

PEOPLE says Zayn was the one to ultimately pull the plug on their three-year relationship. And according to context clues sprinkled throughout the article, Zayn didn’t even have the guts to do it in person — he merely “contacted” her. And although they’re both currently in Los Angeles, they reportedly have yet to see each other. Ouch.

A source told the site, “[Perrie]’s been putting on a brave face as Little Mix have had promotion to do, because she’s obviously devastated.”

The breakup comes as a surprise to anyone who’s followed the escalating trajectory of Zerrie’s relationship over the past few years. The couple first got together back in 2012 and were engaged by August 2013, amid a slew of cheating scandals involving Zayn. Truthfully, their entire relationship has been rife with scandal practically since its inception. Zayn’s been accused of infidelity numerous times, and each time his public demonstrations of affection toward Perrie grew more outlandish until ultimately culminating in what seemed like a rushed engagement.

News of the couple’s breakup comes on the heels of a slew of other high-profile Hollywood couples also dissolving their relationships this summer. Within the past few weeks, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick have called off their nine-year relationship, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner ended their 10-year marriage, Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock dissolved their 26-year marriage and Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale called it quits after 13 years of marriage just last night.

JoJo, songbird uncaged, is preparing to sing.

After breaking free (at last!) from notoriously Shady Record Label Blackground Records and inking a new record deal at the start of 2014 with Atlantic Records, the powerhouse performer — known for serving up pop radio smashes as a young teenager, including “Leave (Get Out)” and “Too Little, Too Late” — is seemingly preparing to make her major label debut. Finally.

The singer, who has been steadily prepping new material ever since signing with Atlantic, has performed some shows and teased some tracks and along the way, including her #LoveJo Valentine’s Day mixtape in 2014, fans have remained waiting patiently for Jo’s grand return to form.

It appears that time is now…at least, if her Instagram is anything to go by.

JoJo

Moments ago, the singer debuted a brand new, grown ‘n’ sexy logo piece by piece on her page, immediately tweeting out the full, glorious golden signature afterward.

“It’s just been so long since I’ve released an album that really what I wanna bring is just quality. I wanna bring big songs. I want them to touch a wide range of people and I really want it to represent my very best work. I’m really not thinking about what other people are doing. I’m thinking about representing my personal best, delivering powerful vocals, and being honest and as raw as possible,” JoJo told Rap-Up back in May of last year.

Are you ready for the return of Jo?…
